Chandigarh, July 13

On getting to know that one of his students had clicked photographs of him while sexually exploiting the child, the accused, Zulfiqar Khan, had snatched the mobile from the victim and disposed it of. By then, the child had already sent the photographs to the complainant in the case, who further sent these to the police.

Zulfiqar was remanded in five-day police custody today. Pleading for seven-day custody of the accused in the court, the police said they had to recover the mobile phone which would be crucial evidence in the case since it was used to click photos of the accused in a compromising position. The police said the mobile had been disposed of in Hardoi, UP, the native place of the accused, and they would have to go there to recover the phone and thus his police custody was required.

The police today showed a photograph of the accused allegedly sodomising a child to the Magistrate in whose court the accused was produced. The court of JMIC Dazy Bangarh then remanded the accused in five-day custody.

The police today placed on record before the court four pictures showing Zulfiqar Khan allegedly sodomising children. There are at least three teenaged boys seen in the photographs, suggesting that he used to indulge in unnatural sex with multiple children at a time. The police will check the records of his properties and scrutnise his bank lockers tomorrow.

Custody too long, Zulfiqar tells Magistrate

Zulfiqar Khan, who hid his face with a newspaper as photographers tried to click him, told the Magistrate after he was remanded in five-day custody that his period in custody was too long. He said the police story was fictitious. He said he did not figure in the pictures and the complainant was trying to settle an old score with him by getting a case registered against him.

Pocket money register recovered

The police today said they had recovered a register in which the accused maintained a record of the pocket money given to all students.

Complainant’s plea

Meanwhile, Kanwarpal, the complainant in the Zulfiqar Khan case, on Monday moved an application, asking the police to provide him security stating that he was getting threat calls after filing the complaint against Zulfiqar.
