Espanyol reject Casilla bid

Espanyol have revealed they have turned down a four million euro bid from Real Madrid for their goalkeeper Kiko Casilla.

Real are looking to acquire a new goalkeeper following the departure of long-time player Iker Casillas to FC Porto and Casilla is one of the candidates the Spanish giants are considering.

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea remains Real's top target this summer but the Spanish media claim negotiations between the two clubs are stalled.

"I spoke a few days ago and said that I hadn't negotiated with Madrid," Espanyol president Joan Collet said on his club's official website. "But they (Real) called me afterwards and we rejected a four million euro offer.

"Nothing has happened since and there have been no negotiations.

"That figure undervalues the player, and our club."

Casilla, a former youth team player at Real, left the club in the summer of 2007 to join Espanyol.

He made 37 league stars fort the Catalan outfit in the 2014-15 campaign and kept 13 clean sheets.

The 28-year-old is under contract with Espanyol until June 2018 and has a 20million euro buyout clause.
