The apricot season in Valais has begun and apricots of excellent quality are expected this summer, according to Agir. 7,750 metric tons of apricots will be harvested until the end of August. Apricots from Valais form 96% of the Swiss produce.

In 2015 the canton of Valais celebrates their entry in the confederation two hundred years ago. On this occasion Festivities with regional products will travel through German-speaking and French-speaking parts of Switzerland. Special products from Valais, such as apricots, dried meat, rye bread and cheeses, can be tasted and bought.

The tour starts 6-July and ends on 31 July. The festivities start in Thun and Lausanne and continue to Geneva, Neuchâtel and finally to Freiburg.
