BHOPAL: Former judge of Madhya Pradesh high court Justice Abhay Kumar Gohil has slapped a contempt notice on MP Congress committee president Arun Yadav and chief spokesperson KK Mishra for dragging his name in DMAT scam. The notice sought a public apology from the Congress leaders or he threatened to file a Rs 10 crore defamation suit.
Mishra had on June 13 charged working and retired judges of the state with influencing admissions in medical colleges for their wards.
Naming Justice Abhay Gohil, Congress state president Arun Yadav had alleged he misused his office to get his adopted daughter, Ragini Gohil, admitted in a medical college.
Justice Gohil had denied the allegations and warned of dragging the Congressman to court.
On Friday, the judge, through his counsel Harish Mehta, served a notice on Congress state president Arun Yadav and chief spokesperson KK Mishra.
Refuting charges, Justice Gohil categorically denied the allegations and said there was no question of his influencing medical college admissions. He said Ragini is not his daughter and he did not remember when she got admission in MBBS.
On the notice, Congress state president Arun Yadav said he is yet to receive the notice. Party chief spokesperson KK Mishra said he stands by his allegations and won't back out. "We will of course reply to the notice," said Mishra.
