Awareness about fake consultancies needed

I am an automobile engineering graduate. Due to lack of knowledge about other options available in education , I have noticed many families getting their children admitted into engineering despite financial crunch. The reality is that only a few get placed in core companies. The remaining work in an underrated profession or find it difficult to find a suitable job. In the last financial year, I understand that around 32 percent vacancies were filled through consultancies.

Thus it is important that an awareness about good consultancies is created, and students told to avoid fake consultancies.

Consider shifting

the bus stand

The traffic congestion in Puducherry is overwhelming, especially near the Nellithope junction and also along the 100 Feet Road.

Moreover, the bus stops near the Rajiv Gandhi and Indira Gandhi statues must be relocated to a convenient distance far away, not obstructing the moving vehicles.

Strict instructions have to be given to bus drivers to stop the vehicles at the designated bus stops.

While the construction of a flyover may ease traffic congestion and solve the problem to a certain extent, it is a heavy financial burden initially as well as recurring expenditure for maintenance, besides creating an issue about hawkers.

Hence, the immediate and easy solution would be to shift the bus stand to the periphery, around 4 to 5 kilometres away, from where the commuters can easily reach the town by other modes of transport like autos, tempos or taxis.

Engage ‘gate mithras’ at unmanned level crossings

Unmanned level crossings have been a major cause of fatalities.

In Puducherry, all the unmanned level crossings should be deployed with ‘gate mithras’, a provision to engage people without regular employment in this service.

As per the Anil Kakodkar Committee, all the unmanned level crossings should be eliminated, but in Puducherry, it is requested to provide or engage such manpower in important places like Vayalveli Nagar in Reddiarpalayam in the first phase to avoid accidents.
