CAPD Minister suspends AD Stores, TSO

*Orders inquiry into dumping of food grains

SRINAGAR, July 12:  Minister for CAPD & Tribal Affairs Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali has ordered suspension of Assistant Director Stores Srinagar and Tehsil Supply Officer Stores for dereliction of duties while he has ordered an inquiry into the dumping of rice meant for the flood victims of Kashmir in Lethpora Godown and also ordered for physical verification of the godowns.
Minister accompanied by Secretary of the Department, Director CAPD Kashmir and other senior officers conducted surprise visits of FCI gowdon at Shaheed Gunj Srinagar and FCI & CAPD gowdons at Lethpora.
During visit to FCI gowdon at Shaheed Gunj, Minister checked the sample of rice and wheat and found that the wheat is not upto the standard. Minister expressed dissatisfaction over the wheat supply by Food Corporation of India and directed Secretary CAPD to communicate FCI that sub standard quality of URS Wheat will not be acceptable. He also directed not to procure sub standard rice.
The Minister also visited Lethpora FCI godown where he checked the stock and quality of the rice and wheat. Meanwhile, minister visited CAPD godown and expressed anguish over non distribution of rice supplied for flood victims. He checked the stock position and also checked receipt and dispatch registers of the store.
Expressing dissatisfaction, Minister instructed for seal the store and ordered physical verification. He also constituted a committee for cross checking dispatches and receipts of food grains meant for flood victims. Minister directed officers to dispose off the ration of flood victims at the earliest.
On the direction of Minister, Secretary CAPD Saurabh Bhagat has placed Assistant Director Stores Srinagar and TSO Stores under suspension and has given the charge of stores to AD Srinagar North.
Meanwhile, terming tribal community as talented community,  Minister for Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution & Tribal Affairs, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali said that education is best way out to empower Gujjar & Bakerwal community.
Addressing a Naat & Qirat Competition programme organized by Gujjar Bakerwal Students Welfare Association in Boys Gujjar & Bakerwal Hostel Srinagar, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali said that tribal community is most talented community but they do not get opportunities to groom. He said that for the first time, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed created a separate Tribal Ministry for the welfare of the community and the ministry has framed line of action to work in the directions of developing the tribal areas.
Minister also said that his ministry is going to convert 5 Gujjar Bakerwal Hostels into Model Residential Gujjar Bakerwal Schools. He said that Rs 50 lakh has been earmarked for repairs of Hostel buildings whereas Rs 50 lakh has been kept available for construction of New PG Gujjar Bakerwal Hostel at Srinagar on which the work will be initiated in next few months. He added that a building will also be constructed for Girls students at Harwan area besides a Co-Education Gujjar Bakerwal School is likely to be opened in Harwan area.
The programme was organized under the leadership of Chowdhary Mohammad Yaseen, Chairman of GBSWA wherein Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali was chief guest while SSP Awantipor Irhad Ahmed, former MLC Rahman Badana, Secretary Gujjar & Bakerwal Advisory Board Chowdhary Lateef Poswal and Chowdhary Salam Din Bajad were also present.
