Yazharunmozhi, Sonu, Pradosh sizzle

E. Yazharunmozhi took eight for 24 as Vellore dismissed Tiruvarur for 145 on the opening day of their two-day TNCA under-16 inter-district tournament, for the P.R. Thevar Trophy, here on Saturday.

At stumps, Vellore was 161 for three in 44 overs in the pre-quarterfinal encounter.

Sonu and Pradosh hit double hundreds

The in-form Sonu Yadav (299) and Pradosh Ranjan Paul (275 not out) scored scorching double hundreds for Krishnagiri and Tirupur.

At Krishnagiri, Sonu struck 39 boundaries but fell a run short of 300.

He added 133 with S. Ganesh (56) for the first wicket and 158 for the fourth wicket with V. Dravid Rajan (40) to take his team to 462 for five in 90 overs. Tuticorin was 18 for no loss at stumps.

At Tirupur, Ranjan Paul was in a similar mood as he hammered 35 fours and three sixes to guide his side to 405 for eight against Kancheepuram.

Maridurai takes six

At Tirunelveli, M. Maridurai took six for 64 to help Tirunelveli dismiss Perambalur for 202. The host was six for no loss in reply.

At Coimbatore, the host bundled out Nilgiris for 49. In reply, it scored 150. Nilgiris was 15 for no loss in its second essay.

At Tiruvallur, Tiruvallur shot out Theni for 59 and replied with 194 for three at stumps.

At Tiruvarur: Tiruvarur 145 in 54 overs (E. Yazharunmozhi eight for 24) vs. Vellore 161 for three in 44 overs (J. Naveen 70 batting, S. Ashroey Harigan 34).

At Karur: Madurai 256 in 83.5 overs (G. Naveen 55, R. Ajith 79, N. Nikil 48, M. Raghul four for 64, K. Meganathan three for 71) vs. Karur 19 for one in 7.3 overs.

At Nagapattinam: Nagapattinam 133 in 62.5 overs (D. Rahul 38, R. Nishanth 34, Kevin D. Chris four for 16) vs. Tiruchi 128 for four in 37 overs (M. Muhil Adithyan 72 batting, A. Chavinth Nadiesh 29, D. Rahul three for 20).

At Coimbatore: Nilgiris 49 in 28.3 overs (B. Nishanth Kumar three for 10) & 15 for no loss in four overs vs. Coimbatore 150 in 52.3 overs (G. Gokul 32, L. Nijinshaji three for 38, Aditya Kumar Gaurav three for 25).

At Tirupur: Tirupur 405 for eight in 90 overs (Pradosh Ranjan Paul 275 n.o., M. Manikandan 57, Alwin Kurian three for 71, A. Balaji three for 62) vs. Kancheepuram.

At Krishnagiri: Krishnagiri 462 for five in 90 overs (R. Sonu Yadav 299, S. Ganesh Yadav 56, V. Dravid Rajan 40, K. Deeban Lingesh 33) vs. Tuticorin 18 for no loss in five overs.

At Tirunelveli: Perambalur 202 in 89.3 overs (K. Arun Raj 45, S. Rajasekar 35, E. Prabhakaran 30, M. Maridurai six for 64) vs Tirunelveli six for no loss in six overs.

At Tiruvallur: Theni 59 in 41.4 overs (A. Bhuvanesh 33, N. Harissh three for 16, J. Sibi Felix three for three) vs Tiruvallur 194 for three in 50 overs (S. Santhosh Kumar 78, S. Venkatesha Prasad 36).
