New Honda CBR650F facelift launched – Price Rs 7.3 lakhs

Claimed as one of the best superbikes in the under Rs 8 lakh segment, New Honda CBR650F has now been launched in India at a starting price of Rs 7.3 lakh, ex-showroom.

Ltd. said, “The new CBR650F, delivers a strong dose of CBR series sporting intent and style. With a great combination of sporty style & powerful performance of inline 4 cylinder engine, CBR650F has got a long list of enthusiastic riders. The new CBR650F offers additional value at no increase in price from its previous generation. We are confident, the enthusiast will feel the rush & get delighted with new ride & excitement.”

Claiming to be the Do Everything Bike, here is a detailed look into the new Honda CBR650F.

Design

Designed to offer the best of both world’s, the designers of Honda CBR650F have not gone overboard. The bike does look sporty, but is not over-done like some Japanese rivals.

In spite of this, the CBR650F looks one of the most streamlined bikes on offer in the market today. Featuring a full fairing in the front, wide tyres, tall windscreen, sleek rear view mirrors, chunky four cylinder engine finished in matte black, raised rear seat, and metal foot rests.

Colour options on offer are Red, Blue, Matte Black, and Red & White in racing livery.

Engine

Engine of the CBR650F is tuned to perform, as well as deliver optimum mileage.

Powered by a 649 cc liquid cooled inline four-cylinder engine with programmable fuel injection, it generates 87 PS at 11,000 rpm and and 63 Nm of torque at 8,000 rpm. The engine is mated to a six speed gearbox. Honda claims that the engine and gearbox offer the smoothest and fastest revving experience than most motorcycles on offer in the segment. Mileage claimed is 21 kmpl.

Specs

Weighing 211 kgs, new Honda CBR650F is 2110 mm long, 755 mm wide and 1145 mm tall. It has a wheelbase of 1450 mm, ground clearance of 130 mm and seating height of 810 mm. CBR650F has a huge 17.3 litre fuel tank, allowing you to make fewer stops at fuel stations.

Front tyre size is 120 / 70 – ZR17 while rear tyre size is 180 / 55 – ZR17 M/C. Both tyres are wrapped around hollow-section 12-spoke cast aluminium alloys. Front suspension is in the form of 41mm conventional telescopic fork, 120mm stroke while rear gets monoshock damper with adjustable preload, 43.5 mm stroke.

Brakes

Front – 320 x 5 mm dual hydraulic disc with dual-piston calipers and sintered metal pads (two-channel ABS)

Rear – 240 x 5 mm hydraulic disc with single-piston caliper and resin mold pads (two-channel ABS)

Features

Known for how it handles, be it road or track, the CBR650F is built on a twin-spar steel frame. Honda claims that it is this rock-solid chassis to which the CBR650F owes its handling.

Other features on offer include, front and rear disc with dual channel ABS, four into one exhaust, clip-on handle bars for comfortable riding position, radial tyres, O-ring chain, long comfortable single seat, 55/55W halogen headlamp with LED position lights and a tall windscreen.

It also has a LCD multi-meter which not only displays speedometer and tachometer digitally, but also displays time, trip meter and fuel gauge.

Rivals

New Honda CBR650F faces competition from a range of 600-800 cc bikes currently on offer in India. These are – Kawasaki Ninja 650, Kawasaki Z800, Triumph Street Triple, Ducati Monster 795, Benelli TNT 600i, and Hyosung GT650R.
