Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh while addressing a function at Bassi in Bilaspur district announced setting up of Degree College at Shri Naina Devi Ji with a provision of Rs 5 crore. He said that the government was endeavoured to open educational institutions in farthest corner of the State. He expressed happiness that girls were outnumbering boys in schools and colleges opened in far-flung areas of the State.He said that one more Women Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) would be set up in Sirmaur district besides the one inaugurated today at Bassi in Bilaspur district. He announced starting of science classes in GSSS Behal.The Chief Minister also addressed a public meeting at Kallar earlier and said that the State government was according priority to provide drinking water to the people of the State and said that the capacity of already existing drinking water supply schemes would be enhanced by augmenting the same and implementing more irrigation supply schemes to the farmers.
Earlier, the Chief Minister performed foundation stone laying ceremony of augmentation of Kallar-Chadol-Maithi Lift Drinking Water Supply Scheme at Kallar to cost Rs 2 crore which would solve the drinking water problem of at least four gram Panchayats of the area having population of about 11500 persons. He laid foundation stone of parking and commercial complex at Bilaspur to cost Rs. 15 crore. He also inaugurated the 5th women IRB Battalion Campus at Bassi completed with an outlay of Rs 14 crore.
Rs. 51 lakh contributed towards CM Relief Fund
The Chairperson, Temple Trust Shri Naina Devi Ji and Deputy Commissioner Bilaspur Smt. Mansi Sahai Thakur honoured the Chief Minister and presented a cheque of Rs 51 lakh to Shri Virbhadra Singh towards Chief Minister’s Relief Fund on behalf of the Trust. Shri Gurmel Singh of Dharot also presented a cheque of Rs 12 thousand towards the CM Relief Fund.The Chief Minister also listened to the public grievances at Shri Naina Devi Ji.Chairman, State Level Planning Development and 20 Point Programme Shri Ram Lal Thakur, thanked the Chief Minister for dedicating development projects worth Rs. 31 crores on a single day and announcing college for Shri Naina Devi ji. He said that the previous BJP government did not take any initiative for starting Kallar Water Supply Scheme which would benefit four panchayats of the area. He said that the Women IRB battalion was announced by the UPA Government with earnest efforts of the Chief Minister.
Thakur said that it was due to the wrong policies of the NDA that the special category status of the State was withdrawn and budget curtailed for agriculture, horticulture and other allied sectors. He listed the other development projects in Naina Devi assembly segment and credited the same to the successive Congress regimes. He demanded starting of science classes in GSSS Kodawalan and Dehar.MLAs Shri Bambar Thakur and Shri Randhir Sharma, Ex-MLAs Shri Tilak Raj, Shri Biru Ram Kishore, Shri Babu Ram Gautam, Ex-MLA from Nangal (Punjab), Shri KPS Rana, District Congress Committee, President, Smt. Santosh Dhiman, HPCC Secretary, Shri Vikas Thakur, President Mahila District Congress Committee Smt. Anjana Dhiman were also present on the occasion amongst others.
