Stated to be the Triveni Sangamam following the confluence of rivers Godavari, Pranahita and Saraswathi, Sri Kaleshwara Mukhteeshwara Swamy Devasthanam on the picturesque shores of the Godavari is being spruced up for the Godavari Pushkaralu at Kaleshwaram in Mahadevpur mandal. Kaleshwaram is the centre of pushkarams, which are organised once in 12 years. Pranahita Pushkaram was held in 2010 and Saraswathi Pushkaram in 2013, and now the Godavari Pushkaralu are from July 14. This is an ideal place for the pilgrims for taking holy dip and to perform other rituals. Tucked away on the borders of Karimnagar district adjoining Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra, the Kaleshwaram temple is also called as Dakshin Gangotri because of its location near the confluence of three rivers. This is the only temple where two lingams are placed on single pedestal and one is called Yama and another Shiva.
Devotees, who visit this place, first offer prayers to Lord Yama and later to Lord Shiva. It is believed that the water poured by devotees on the Shiva lingams merge with the confluence of the rivers.
The temple also houses Goddess Saraswathi after Basar and Kashmir and similarly Sun God temple after Konark and Asaravelli.
