One held in robbery case

M. Thangaraj (30) of Avarangadu village in Sivaganga district was arrested by Kovilpatti West police on Friday and 34 sovereigns of gold, half a kilogram of silver and a four-wheeler were seized from him. Kovilpatti Assistant Superintendent of Police Murali Rambha said Thangaraj was held in connection with a robbery in a house in Inam Maniyachi on April 21. Four masked robbers had attacked the inmates of the house and decamped with the valuables. Similar cases had been registered against the accused in Melur and Karupayirani police station limits in Madurai district, RS Puram in Coimbatore, Oddanchathiram in Dindigul, he said. A hunt is on to nab three more of his accomplices.
