In what could be viewed as political compulsions and uncertainties in the State’s political arena, the former Chief Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) State president H.D. Kumaraswamy seems to be looking forward to renew his friendship with B.S. Yeddyurappa, former Chief Minister and national vice-president of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
This was what was on the minds of all those who heard him attributing good virtues to Mr. Yeddyurappa, with whom his relationship was severed after Mr. Kumarswamy did a volte-face on the agreement to share the office of Chief Minister with Mr. Yeddyurappa in the JD(S)-BJP coalition government.
Addressing party workers here on Thursday, Mr. Kumarswamy said Mr.Yeddyurappa was concerned about the welfare of the people and hence enjoyed close association with them.
Such praise showered by Mr. Kumarswamy on his “hitherto” political rival suggests that the recent meeting between him and Mr. Yeddyurappa was more than just casual.
Chance factor
He also told workers that he did not join politics to make a career or a fortune. His joining politics was only a chance factor with people from different sections of society linking their aspirations and hopes to see better days.
Mr. Kumaraswamy took the occasion to criticise the Siddaramaiah government, which he said, was marked by corruption and misrule: “The Congress pot is now full with corruption today, and the government is not doing justice to the people of north Karnataka.”
