TARRYTOWN, N.Y. (AP) - A New York man has died after drowning during a swim in the Hudson River near Tarrytown.

The Journal News (https://lohud.us/1HTqxWF ) reports the 43-year-old man swam about 50 feet from the shore Friday afternoon before he went underwater.

When he reached the surface, he was unconscious. Responding police officers brought the man to shore, but he was not breathing.



The man’s identity has not been released.

Authorities believe his death was accidental.
