Bec Rawlings Injured, Joanne Calderwood Gets New UFC Glasgow Opponent

Cortney Casey-Sanchez has agreed to step in for injured Bec Rawlings to meet Scottish strawweight Joanne “Jojo” Calderwood at UFC Fight Night: Bisping vs. Leites on July 18 in Scotland.

UFC officials confirmed on Friday that the No.9 ranked UFC women’s strawweight will face a new opponent after Rawlings was sidelined due to injury.

Casey-Sanchez (4-1-0) enters the division on short notice and will step in to meet Calderwood on Saturday, July 18, at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow. It will be her UFC debut. The Phoenix native is riding a three-fight winning streak and hopes to make an immediate impact by taking out the top ten-ranked Calderwood.

Calderwood participated on The Ultimate Fighter 20, advancing the the quarterfinals before she was defeated by Rose Namajunas. She won her official UFC debut, defeating Seo Hee Ham by unanimous decision in December, but is coming off a quick submission loss to Maryna Moroz in her last outing at UFC Fight Night 64.

UFC Fight Night 72 is headlined by a middleweight match-up between ninth-ranked Michael Bisping and tenth-ranked Thales Leites.
