KANPUR: Comments posted on social networking site Facebook by two different communities led to tension in Mainpuri late on Wednesday night.
Both communities have lodged FIRs in this regard. Following a mob attack on Bhogaon police station, the police on Thursday lodged a third FIR against the perpetrators. A person named in one of the FIR has been arrested while search was underway for others.

Mainpuri SP Udai Shanker Jaiswal said that situation in Bhogaon was under control and culprits responsible for the disturbance would not be spared.
As per reports, one Mohammad Shahnawaz of Bhogaon on Wednesday lodged an FIR with the police station accusing Manav Katheria of posting derogatory remarks against the Prophet on June 24, 2015 through facebook ID of Manav Dhanvanshi. In another case, one Gaurav Katheria lodged an FIR accusing Gulzar Ahmed, Tausif Khan and Adil of posting derogatory remarks against Hindus.
Bhogaon station house officer (SHO) RB Sharma said that Manav was arrested in the evening and put up in the lock up. While the police were on the look out for accused named in another FIR, Shahnawaz led a crowd of 150-200 people to the police station.
The crowd wanted that Manav be handed over to them. On refusal they barged into the police station and resorted to heavy brick batting that left constables Jagat Singh, Abhisek and Pankaj Kumar. Realizing that the situation was going out of hands, the police resorted to mild use of force. The mob fled.
On Thursday Bhogaon SHO lodged an FIR against 150-200 unknown persons, Shahnawaz and 19 others under sections 147/149/332/353/186/427 of the IPC and 7 Criminal Amendment Act.
