AHMEDABAD: With possibility of Rath Yatra and Eid coming together on July 18, the cops are taking no chances with the deployment of police forces. This time, the cops have done three-dimensional aerial mapping of the entire route of the Yatra with the help of unmanned aircrafts, Netras.
Besides the main thoroughfares, the cops have taken 3D photographs of even bylanes along the Yatra route, especially in sensitive areas.

“We want to pinpoint entry and exit points of all lanes so that during emergency we can act swiftly,” said deputy commissioner of police, crime branch, Deepan Bhadran.
Police had flown three Netras over sensitive areas at lower levels to take pictures. For enhanced security, cops will wear bulletproof jackets. Cane shields for personnel to be deployed in the bandobast have started to pile up at the city crime branch office.
“Some of the officers from other districts have already reached here for the duty. They are having a look at the Yatra route to get accustomed with the conditions,” said a police official.
Senior police officials said that more than 20,000 police personnel and officers would be present during the Yatra.
