Uttar Pradesh: Baghpat village tense after communal clash

Tension continued to prevail in Singhawali-Ahir village in Baghpat district of west Uttar Pradesh on Thursday following communal clash on Wednesday night. The police have held four persons for breach of peace and harmony in the area. Forces have also been deployed there to prevent any recurrence of violence. The incident happened when Mohammad Shabbir, a villager, allegedly Praveen Kumar, a local shopkeeper to give him Rs 15,000. Shabbir and his friends attached Praveen, when he refused to give them money.

Later on, some people of majority community attacked Shabbir's son Mohammad Alauddin. Later, a large number of people from both sides assembled and attacked each other with sharp weapons, leaving three persons injured.

Dharmendra Pawar, Station House Officer of Bailana police station said, "We have arrested Shabbir, his son Sariq and Praveen along with his son Raj Kumar. Police force is there in the village."
