Police have charged two men over a shooting incident that resulted in a Cooloongup man having his lower leg amputated in April. They are still searching for four others.

Rockingham detectives said six men allegedly forced their way into a Lynda Crescent home on April 8, around 2am.

The 31-year-old victim was asleep with his partner and three children aged between six and 10 years in the house.

One of the offenders allegedly fired a weapon inside the house close to the children. The group then confronted the victim and demanded property from him. He was then allegedly shot in the lower left leg.

The offenders left empty-handed and drove off in a 4WD. The victim required emergency medical treatment and later had his lower leg amputated.

The vehicle, believed to be driven by the offenders, was recovered by police on Mornington Boulevard in Waikiki. The 4WD was reported stolen in Esperance on April 1.

Detectives have charged a 33-year-old man and he is due in the Rockingham Magistrates Court on Thursday.

A 36-year-old man appeared in the Rockingham Magistrates Court on Tuesday. He has been remanded to appear in Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court on August 12.

Detectives ask that anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
