'Magic Mike XXL' might not release in India?

After '50 Shades of Grey', one more film is unlikely to find release in India
'Magic Mike XXL' might not release in India?
Picture Hollywood's hottest actors, Channing Tatum, Matt Bomer and Joe Manganiello dirty dancing for you. No kissing, no BDSM, no violence, only lots of male stripping. But the Magic Mike sequel, scheduled to open in India on July 3, is unlikely to arrive.
On June 25, Pahlaj Nihalani, Chairperson of the Central Board for Film Certification (CBFC), along with members of the Examining Committee, watched 'Magic Mike XXL'.
At the end of the screening, they announced in no uncertain terms, that the comedy-drama could not be per mitted to release in India because of all the sexual energy on display. On Tuesday, July 7, the producers had a second screening for an eight-member Revising Committee. “Five of them were ready to clear the film with half-a-dozen cuts, the remaining three rejected it," the Presiding officer of the EC, Nandini Sardesai, told Mirror.

The 2012 original, directed by Steven Soderbergh, follows the life of a male stripper, played by Academy Award-winner Matthew McConaughey. He mentors a youngster, Channing Tatum.
The film had an unprecedented female fan following owing to all the hot bodies on display. The sequel directed by Gregory Jacobs, travels from Tampa Bay to Myrtle Beach for a stripping convention. There is no explicit nudity and the film which opened worldwide on July 1, is running successfully across the globe, with India being the excep tion.
There were three men and five women in the Revising n Committee.
Sardesai admits that three of the ladies, including herself, enjoyed the film. “But since there is a difference of opinion, Warner Bros. will have to go to the Tribunal or not release the film in India," she says.

The MPAA, which is the American authority for Film Certification, has given the film a 'R-Rating', equivalent to the UA certificate in India. Says Pahlaj, “If the makers have a problem, they can go to a second revising committee. I have not seen the final film so I cannot comment."
A Warner Bros. Pictures India spokesperson told Mirror, “The film stands postponed. Once cleared we will definitely release it in India."
The studio had released Entourage last month with several cuts but had pulled out the adult comedy, 'Get Hard'. Earlier, in February, 50 Shades of Grey was banned in India.
