CBS TV Studios has tapped WME lit agent Alec Botnick as its new VP of comedy development.
“We are so excited that Alec will be joining the comedy team,” said Kate Adler, CBS’ exec VP of comedy development. “Having spent the past 13 years at WME, he has great relationships, a fresh perspective on development, and a really good handle on the comedy landscape. In addition, at 6’2”, he brings the height our department has been sorely lacking.”
Botnick replaces Jim Donnelly, who recently joined Universal Television as senior VP of comedy development under Bela Bajaria.
During his years at WME, Botnick packaged scripted TV series and represented writers, writer-performers, directors and producers. His clients included Loren Bouchard (“Bob’s Burgers”), Cristela Alonzo (“Cristela”), Grace Helbig (“The Grace Helbig Show”), Lindsey Shockley (“Black-ish”), and Barry Sonnenfeld (“Nine Lives”).
