MIRI: Eight widows from Kampung Pujut Tanjung Batu have received Ramadan welfare assistance from the village’s Neighbourhood Women Committee at the Voluntary Patrolling Scheme Centre of the village recently.

The assistance in the form of cash and food items was given under a programme dubbed ‘Untaian Kasih Ramadan’.

The recipients were Rosni Seli, Jamayah Jaini, Fatimah Lilai, Jamilah Abu Bakar, Madinah Awang mat Salleh, Endon Awi, Jamilah Ludin and Jaisa Imran.

According to the committee’s chairman Hamidah Abu, the assistance was given to selected recipients who were members of the committee or mothers of the committee members.

“The contribution was funded by village’s Neighbourhood Committee (RT) and personal donations from the members of RT.

“We hope this contribution would ease the financial burden of the recipients during the month of Ramadan,” she said.

At the same time, she also thanked Sibuti MP Ahmad Lai Bujang and Kampung Pujut Tanjung Batu’s RT chairman Ishak Baijuri for the generous cash contributions to the recipients.

Unity and National Integration Department (JPNIN) divisional unity officer for Miri Khairunisa Idil was also present to give out the donation to the recipients.
