Shahid Kapoor's reception venue swamped by rumour, rain and crowd

Mera hero kidhar hai?
Excitement, frenzy and rumours on celebrities who may attend the wedding reception were at a peak at around 7 on Tuesday evening when the aam janta started crowding the space outside the Gurgaon hotel where Shahid Kapoor and Mira Rajput hosted their reception. Shahid’s fans who had gathered outside the venue, hoped to get a glimpse of the actor despite the downpour till just an hour before the function.

Subdued and subtle
Perhaps saving the star-studded guest list for their upcoming Mumbai reception, the guest list for Shahid and Mira’s reception here included names like actors Manoj Pahwa and Seema Bhargava, Pandit Birju Maharaj, and Shahid’s friends, designer Masaba Gupta, producer Madhu Mantena and choreographer Bosco.The music being played was a mix of retro and classic Bollywood. Nothing was over the top and there was hardly any naach gaana at the do. Shahid chose a black bandhgala jacket for the evening, while Mira wore a cream outfit with a hint of gold. The see-through cape added a contemporary touch to the bride’s dress. The newlyweds were seen spending time with guests and clicking selfies, but their relatives were keeping a strict watch on all those who tried to click pictures without the couple’s knowledge.

Pahwa, who was there at the reception, told us, “We were supposed to attend the wedding, but our flight got delayed. But we made it here for the reception. It feels so nice to see Shahid getting married. We have known him from his childhood and it’s good to see him so happy.”
Shahid and Mira sought Pandit Birju Maharaj’s blessings and clicked a few pictures with the dance maestro. He told us, “Neelima (Shahid’s mother) meri bahut purani shagird rahi hain, aur Shahid ko 11-12 saal ki umar se maine dekha hai. Usske saath main khela hoon aur usse naachte huye bhi dekha hai. Neelima ke liye bahut bada avasar hai.”

‘Shira’ blissed out
Out of the many wedding pictures of ‘Shira’ that circulated on the web, we particularly found the one posted by the groom himself adorable. The actor introduced his wife to the world, proudly announcing that he is hitched. Shahid also tagged his bride in the said picture, which he first posted on a picture sharing site. Mira whose account is private, has changed her name to Mira Rajput Kapoor.
