RSP NETBALL TEAM READY FOR SARPCCO GAMES

MANZINI – The Royal Swaziland Police (RSP) netball team is ready to defend its title in the SARPCCO Games.


The Southern Africa Regional Police Chiefs Cooperation Organisation (SARPCCO) Games will be held in the country from July 22 to August 2. It comprises of police teams from around the SADC region in various sporting codes.


Yesterday, the country’s netball squad held its training session at the Mavuso Exhibition Sports Centre under the watchful eye of Coach Hlobisile Magagula. The local side were crowned champions in the last edition of the police games in Namibia in 2013 after beating Malawi in the finals.


The games will attract close to 2 000 athletes from the southern Africa region. The netball squad boasts seven players who were part of the national team that went to play in the Africa Netball Championships held in Gaborone, Botswana. The players are; Vumile Dlamini, Phindile Sithole, Bongiwe Magagula, Hlengiwe Bhembe, Tengetile Sibandze, Ncamsile Dlamini and Sebenzile Nxumalo.


Other players include; Mcebo Vilakati, Junior Hlatshwako, Bathabile Ngcamphalala, Zandile Ngwenya and Sandzi Simelane.
“We have now spent a month at training.

We are facing the big challenge of defending the trophy here at home having won it in Namibia two years ago. We want to make the country proud. Our squad is ready for the games and we are confident that the experience of the players that were part of the national team will work to our advantage,” Magagula said.
