July 08, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:42 am IST - Hyderabad:

The Central Public Works Department (CPWD) conducted an inter-departmental conference in Hyderabad here on Tuesday to improve its reach out to client departments. Heads and senior officers of about 75 client departments participated in the event. In the meet, clients requested CPWD to improve maintenance of infrastructure and inter-disciplinary coordination. The department organised the meeting on the occasion of its completion of 161 years of service. Officials at the CPWD, Hyderabad, said that stringent mechanisms will be made available for ensuring quality as well as safety. Earthquake resistance will be induced in buildings that they intend construct. Procedural frameworks followed in CPWD would safeguard public exchequer and the interest of the client departments, officials said at the meet. Need for installation of solar power systems and LED lighting was also discussed.
