Benchmates build talent pool for Node.js technology
The two 24-year-old graduates from MIT, Manipal, have clients across 15 countries

Akash Budhia and Monu Kumar, both 24-year-old graduates from Manipal Institute of Technology (2012), are building a talent house on MEAN stack development through their start-up Cron-J, which is a collection of JavaScript based technologies used to develop web and mobile applications. Several companies in the world such as NetFlix, Paypal, LinkedIn and others have success stories built on the same technology, but the industry that provides this technology is still growing.

Speaking to Bangalore Mirror, Akash Budhia said that the company is currently based in Hyderabad, but will soon move to Bengaluru.

“Our journey began during my internship days in Zurich. I was working for a game product company. I saw that this industry had a huge potential. After my day’s work, I would spend time calling my friend Monu Kumar and we would discuss the technology and the market. Once back from a six-month journey I had been on, we started developing games on JavaScript. I then started working for an IT giant, but quit my job soon,” he said.

The duo then rented out a flat in Hyderabad and started developing games. “We then launched Cron-J in June 2013 and started training youngsters and have done business with 15 countries and the turnover in the last one year has been 0.5 million dollars without any investor,” he said.

Akash and Monu have done business for brands like USA Today – developed four custom web applications, Mitsubishi Lancer and Utrecht University.

They recently signed a contract with an eLearning segment of the Apollo Hospitals Group, their first Indian client. They are also in the process of setting up Bonzer Lab BV in Utrecht, Netherlands, with Reiner Bruns, member of the European Union.
They are also partnering with Teramine.io in Sao Paulo, Brazil – in fields of education, finance, research and hospitality. Most start-ups are considering Node.js and MEAN stack to build their products, said Akash Budhia.
