Shop prices in the United Kingdom were down 1.3 percent on year in June, the British Retail Consortium said on Wednesday - following the 1.9 percent decline in May.
Food prices eased 0.4 percent in June, the data showed, while non-food prices dropped almost 2.0 percent.
Heavy discounting by furniture and food retailers kept the decline largely in check.
"Shoppers wishing to invest in their home won't be disappointed, with great deals to be found in furniture and flooring and gardening and hardware in particular," BRC Director General Helen Dickinson said.
