KOZHIKODE: As many as 28,000 students have made it to the trial allotment list published for degree admissions under the common admission process (CAP) of the Calicut University.
The first allotment list will be published on July 9 on the varsity website.
As many as one lakh students had applied for admissions through the single window process. Only those who have got admissions under the merit category will be included in the first list.
The community quota and other reservation categories will be included in the second allotment.
The second allotment list will be published on July 15 and the third list will be published on July 27. Director of the directorate of admissions, Jos T Puthur said that the college managements will be permitted to conduct spot admissions after the third round of allotment.
The single window admissions of the varsity this year had been plagued by delays due to repeated crash of the software and strike by programmers forcing the varsity to make several date extensions to enable the students to complete their registrations. Students had also complained of difficulties in accessing the varsity admission portal due to bandwidth issues.
Though around 1.2 lakh students had completed the first round of registration after payment of fees to the varsity, the number of students who have completed the second stage of registration was around one lakh.
The varsity has also decided to conduct the post graduate admissions through the single window admission process as well which is planned to be held during the period from July 15 to September 2.
“We have submitted a proposal to set up a dedicated server just for admissions and to increase the bandwidth during the admission season to ensure that the CAP process is conducted in a fool proof manner from the next year onwards,” the director said.
