Enhance MPLAD Fund: Shanta Kumar

Veteran BJP leader Shanta Kumar has urged the government to enhance the MP Local Area Development Fund instead of increasing the salaries and perks of parliamentarians.

Shanta Kumar said after the widespread criticism on the subsidized food in Parliament canteens members will have to face wrath in the case of their salary hike. Adequate facilities had been provided to parliamentarians by the government, he said.

In a press statement released here today Shanta Kumar said in present scenario the salaries provided to MPs were more than sufficient to meet their daily needs. “We are the representative of the country where people in crores are battling hunger and poverty. These people have sent us to Parliament with the hope that we will vanish darkness of poverty from their lives,” said Kangra MP Shanta Kumar said.
