BHUBANESWAR: IIM Indore (IIMI), the mentor institute for IIM Sambalpur ((IIMS), on Tuesday announced that the first academic session of its clone in the state with the two-year post graduate programme in management (PGP) would start from September.
Setting in motion the admission process for the first batch (2015-17), IIMI has started sending emails to candidates of CAT-2014 who had expressed interest for 'IIM in Odisha'.
Since the decision on the location of the IIM at Sambalpur was taken only recently, these candidates were being asked again if they were interested in taking Sambalpur, it said.
Posting some frequently asked questions about the Sambalpur institute on its website — the mentor said IIMI would mentor all activities at IIMS until it moved to its permanent campus or was able to handle its activities entirely on its own. Since recruiting full-time faculty would take time, teachers from IIMI will be delivering lectures at Sambalpur during the mentorship period and till IIMS gets it own faculty members. Besides, some visiting faculty selected by IIMI will also be engaged, it said.
Tuition fees for IIMS will be around Rs 10 lakh (compared to around Rs 13 lakh at the Indore institute), it said. Most leading banks would provide loans to the selected students following central government norms for IIMs.
"The overall design, quality and delivery of PGP will be up to the expected standards and with direct involvement of IIMI," the IIMI promises, adding, anyone interested in pursuing management education will find all the ingredients of a good management education at the Sambalpur institute.
All students will get accommodation with spacious rooms and sufficient furniture in the vicinity of the classroom, IIMI said.
