Zoumana Camara lands PSG coaching role under Laurent Blanc

Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed experienced former defender Zoumana Camara has joined Laurent Blanc's coaching staff at the Ligue 1 champions.

Camara, 36, ended his playing career following PSG's Coupe de France win in May, and, after eight years at the Parc des Princes, has now taken up a role as part of Blanc's backroom staff.

The ex-Saint-Etienne and Marseille centre-back was alongside Blanc and his assistant, Jean-Louis Gasset, when PSG started preseason training on the outskirts of Paris on Monday.

Camara is expected to play a similar role to that of Claude Makelele, who was a member of Blanc's staff until last summer, acting as a liaison between the coach and the dressing room.

The former defender, who has a single France cap to his name, is widely respected across PSG's cosmopolitan squad with his ability to speak Italian -- courtesy of a two-year stint at Inter Milan early in his career -- a valuable asset in bridging the language barrier between players.
