Butterball releases turkey breakfast ideas in wake of growing restaurant trend

Breakfast remains the industry’s fastest growing daypart, with Mintel expecting the market to grow by more than $10 billion in the next five years, Butterball reported in a press release.

Among this growth is the trend to move toward healthful options, the company said, adding that in a recent industry article, Technomic EVP Darren Tristano said, "[Turkey] is becoming increasingly popular for breakfast. Consumers are comfortable eating turkey bacon and turkey sausage, and that trend will continue to increase."  Technomic research also confirms that more consumers would consider ordering turkey (over chicken) for a breakfast sandwich.

Butterball has released a variety of turkey breakfast/brunch ideas for operators interested in capitalizing on the trend, including:

• Breakfast Turkey Sausage Croissants  — Turkey sausage and Asiago cheese topped with orange mango chutney, sandwiched in a flaky croissant.
• Turkey Burger Benedict — Poached egg and spicy jalapeño hollandaise sauce with Cheddar and pico de gallo on top of a turkey burger, served on a toasted brioche roll.
• Signature Breakfast Sandwich — Egg white omelet with maple turkey sausage topped with fresh spinach and served on ciabatta makes a healthful choice that’s perfect for on the go.
