Union government neglecting Puducherry, says Narayanasamy

July 04, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:51 am IST - PUDUCHERRY:

AICC general secretary and former Union Minister for State V. Narayanasamy said that the Union Government was neglecting the Union Territory of Puducherry by keeping out the Chief Minister from the meeting of the National Institution for Transforming India (NITI) Aayog recently.

In a statement, Mr. Narayanasamy said the meeting was attended by Chief Ministers of all states including the National Capital Territory of Delhi.

But as far as Puducherry was concerned the Chief Minister was not invited to the meeting, only the Lieutenant Governor A.K. Singh attended the meeting as its member, he claimed.

The ruling AINRC was extending support to the BJP-led government at the Centre but the Centre is doing injustice to Puducherry, he alleged.

He reiterated that Puducherry was not included in the list of 100 Smart cities finalised by the centre and it had a place only in the annexure.

The Chief Minister should clear the air on the present status of Puducherry, he added.
