406 cell phones recovered

July 07, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:35 am IST - New Delhi:

The Delhi Police claimed they had recovered over 400 stolen mobile phones in 60 days under a newly-launched initiative — “Operation Mobile Hunt”.

According to the police, the operation was the brainchild of Sunil Kumar Gautam, Joint CP (Central Range), who motivated officers across the Central and North districts to launch a campaign aimed at tracking and recovering lost and stolen mobile phones.

As many as 406 phones were recovered between May 1 and June 30.

“It was learned that most of the stolen phones find their way to the black market where retailers offer them to prospective customers at discounted prices. A gang of mobile snatchers was also busted in Delhi,” Mr. Gautam said.
