Employees of a Kolkata-based firm, Trinetra Consultant Private Limited, have in their deposition before the Central Bureau of Investigation, said that their company had made payments of nearly Rs. 7.4 crore to the Trinamool Congress before the 2014 Lok Sabha poll.

The money transferred to Trinetra by PS Group, a property management company, was mostly in cash and went into the TMC’s account through real time fund transfers or cheques. Three employees of Trinetra, including a director, Manoj Sharma, appeared before the CBI on Sunday afternoon.

The lawyer for employees of Trinetra, Arunansu Chakrabarty, confirmed that his clients had met CBI officials. “They deposed before the CBI and narrated the truth as they are ordinary employees and seriously suffering due to unscrupulous builders and some politicians.”

As a part of the ongoing investigation into Saradha’s money trail, the CBI questioned the employees of Trinetra Consultant. Besides Mr. Sharma, two others – M.K Yadav and Pradeep Chowdhury of Trinetra – appeared before the CBI and made a statement under Section 160 of CrPC. Trinetra had earlier submitted its accounts to the Income-Tax Department.

Records from the company’s papers to CBI highlight that a sum of Rs. 3.50 crore “was received from the PS Group” against which cheques were given by Trinetra Consultant to the TMC. Between the first instalment of Rs. 50 lakh on April 11, 2014, and the last on April 28, 2014, money was paid in four more instalments. According to Trinetra’s employees, between Rs. 40 lakh and Rs. one crore was paid to the TMC in each instalment.

Earlier, payments were made in another set of instalments by Trinetra between March 29, 2014, and March 31, 2014.
