KOZHIKODE/ALIGARH: The executive council of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has decided to restore the earlier results of its MBBS/BDS 2015 entrance test and not hold a retest. The decision was taken in the presence of vice-chancellor Lt Gen Zameer Uddin Shah and members of the council.
Farook College authorities and candidates welcomed the decision of the AMU to withdraw its earlier order cancelling the medical entrance exam on suspicion of foul play in the entrance examination held at the college.
Farook College principal E P Imbichikoya said that the hard work and perseverance of the students of the state has been vindicated.
AMU hadcancelled the entrance test expressing suspicion over the high pass percentage among the candidates who gave the test at the examination centre at Farook College.
As many as 3,739 students had appeared for the exam at the centre and around 30 students qualified the test held for admission to the 140 available seats.
The college had slapped a defamatory notice on the AMU vice-chancellor for allegedly tarnishing the image of the college by hinting that there were irregularities in conducting the exam at the centre.
"We are happy about the findings of the three member committee headed by a former judge of the Allahabad High Court that there was no foul play in the conduct of the test at the Farook College. The committee had visited the college as part of its inquiry in June and had taken evidence from the around 200 invigilators and the college authorities. Out stand has finally been vindicated," he said.

He added that the inquiry committee was also apprised about the sterling track record of students from the state in the national entrance exams in the past years.
“We had told them that there was nothing unnatural in 30 students from the state clearing the test as over 50% of students who secure admissions in various centres of All India Institute of Medical Sciences is from Kerala," he said.
“The decision to cancel the test just because students from the state performed exceedingly well was a big mistake. We are happy that the varsity itself has corrected its mistake," said Y Jawahar, a parent of a candidate.
University PRO Rahat Abrar said, “The decision was taken only after analyzing the reports submitted by the inquiry committee headed by Justice Imtiyaz Murtaza, retired judge of the Allahabad high court. The council has unanimously accepted the report, which has given clean chit to the Kozhikode centre for conducting the MBBS/BDS entrance test for 2015-16. It has stated that there was no foul play in the conduct of the examination. It also held that the procedures followed were in conformity with approved norms.”
The earlier decision of holding a retest was taken on the findings of preliminary inquiry that had limited data and time available. Later, another committee was formed to look into the conduct of the affairs.
