FIEO seeks Govt support for agri exports

New Delhi, Jul 6 (UNI) The government has assured exporters of looking into their demand for support to the agri exports which are witnessing rough global weather. The assurance was given to a delegation of the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley here. “ For agriculture exports, the Finance Minister agreed to look into the issue of providing support in respect of commodities in which MSP (Maximum Support Price) is much above the international prices so as to provide an avenue for their exports,” according to a FIEO release issued today. The FIEO delegation appraised Mr Jaitley of the tough global scenario and domestic constraints responsible for decline in exports. Excluding petroleum exports, the overall consignments exhibited a decline of 8.9 per cent in the first two months of the current fiscal while non-oil imports showed a growth of 4.3 per cent. The order booking position of the Indian companies is not encouraging which reflect the challenges to be faced by the export sector in the following months and its impact on the employment in the sector. In his presentation, FIEO President S C Ralhan sought government support for the MSME sector through extension of Technology Up-gradation Fund. The threshold limit of Credit Linked Capital Subsidy Scheme (CLCSS) may be increased from Rs.1 crore to Rs.5 crore consequent on proposed increase in threshold limit for small and medium companies.
