Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP) Rana Asad Amin has ordered a special audit of the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) after receiving the directions from Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Express News reported.

Following the first-ever historic ousting from the 2016 Rio Olympics, the prime minister had issued directions to the auditor general to carry out a complete audit of the PHF, including the eras under Rana Mujahid and Asif Bajwa as PHF chiefs.

The AGP has reportedly received the copy of the PM's decision on the matter.

If any wrongdoing is found in the audit report then the case will be forwarded to National Accountability Bureau for further investigation.

Earlier, Pakistan lost 1-0 to Ireland in the 5th-6th classification match and later they were thrashed 2-1 by France to end up at the eighth position in the World Hockey League semi-finals.

Nawaz expressed his concerns over Pakistan hockey team’s embarrassing performance at the FIH Hockey World League and its failure to qualify for the Summer Olympics for the first time in its history.

The Premier also asked the hockey authorities to firm up recommendations for the uplift of country’s national sport, with an aim to regain its past glory.

Moreover, chief selector Islahuddin Siddiqui resigned from his post along with the other members of PHF selection committee following the team’s disastrous showing at the FIH Hockey World League Semi-finals.
