Spanish anti-austerity party Podemos called on the European institutions Monday to recognize the Greeks' "No" to the creditors' austerity measures proposals and to return to negotiations without any preconditions.

MADRID (Sputnik) — On Sunday, over 61 percent of the Greek public voted “no” in a referendum on the creditors' proposals.

"We demand that the European institutions, in particular the Government of Spain, recognize the sovereign verdict of the Greeks, return to negotiating table without preconditions, ensure the stability of Greek financial system — which is the obligation of the European Central Bank in accordance with its own charter — and facilitate once and for all a fair, reasonable and viable agreement that will solve the problem of the Greek public debt…"

The Spanish party urged the Troika — the International Monetary Fund, the European Commission and the European Central Bank — to admit their own mistakes and contribute to the final solution of the "problems they have created themselves."

Podemos also accused the European institutions and governments for trying to intimidate the Greeks and interfere with their free choice while lying to "equate a vote 'against' with an anti-European vote."

The Sunday vote boosted speculation about Greece’s possible exit from the Eurozone amid the country’s financial crisis.

Eurozone finance ministers are expected to hold a meeting on Tuesday to discuss the results of the vote while awaiting for new proposals from Athens.
