NBA Rumor Roundup

Joe Pugliese

NBA Rumor Round Up For Monday, July 6:

  • Jeremy Lin: The Dallas Mavericks are hoping to land the point guard and that transaction still remains likely, according to Tim MacMahon of ESPNDallas.com. The Mavs are looking at options for Lin via sign-and-trade with the Lakers.

  • Joe Johnson: On Sunday, ESPN.com's Brian Windhorst reported the Cleveland Cavaliers were talking to the Brooklyn Nets regarding Joe Johnson. Should the Cavs get Johnson, they are looking at a tax bill that could exceed $100 million for the 2015-16 season. To get Johnson, the Cavs can sent the Nets Brendan Haywood and his non-guaranteed contract and backup center Anderson Varejao.

  • Marc Gasol: The Memphis Grizzlies center has decided to skip the 2015 Eurobasket tournament so he can rest and spend the NBA offseason with his family, according to Marca, via translation from Sportando. Gasol will sign a new max contract this week with the Grizzlies.

  • Reggie Jackson: According to ESPN.com's Brian Windhorst, the point guard has agreed to five-year, $80 million contract with the Pistons.

  • Omri Casspi: The forward likes playing in Sacramento and that will continue for a few more years as he agreed to a two-year, $6 million deal with the Kings, reports ESPN.com's Marc Stein. He will provide depth off the bench at both forward positions.

  • Cory Joseph: The point guard became an unrestricted free agent on Sunday after the San Antonio Spurs rescinded their qualifying offer. Later that night he agreed to a four-year, $30 million contract with the Toronto Raptors, reports ESPN.com's Chris Broussard and Brian Windhorst. Joseph was born in Toronto and becomes the second Canadian to play for the Raptors.

  • Brandon Bass: The forward will leave the Boston Celtics as he has agreed to terms with the Los Angeles Lakers. His contract is still uncertain as he could arrive via sign-and-trade or the use of the "Room" exception given to teams who began July as an under the cap team.

  • Jeremy Evans: The forward has decided to leave the Utah Jazz as he agreed to a deal with the Dallas Mavericks. According to ESPN.com's Marc Stein, Evans will earn the veteran minimum over two years.

  • Utah Jazz: They own the rights Brazilian point guard Raul Neto, the No. 47 selection in the 2013 NBA draft. After spending the last two years overseas, Neto is visiting with the Jazz to discuss his future with the team, reports the Deseret News.

  • Nick Young: The Lakers are very busy as they figure out all the moves needed to bring in Roy Hibbert, Louis Williams and Brandon Bass. They may have to trade one of their few players under contract and that includes Young, according to Marc J. Spears of Yahoo Sports. Ryan Kelly could also be on the block.

  • Luigi Datome: The small forward remains in limbo as he is hoping to get an NBA offer. According to Boston Herald, Datome's agent is looking at options in Europe should he get shut out by the NBA teams, including the Celtics. "It’s very early because (NBA) free agency is so (early)," Datome said. "My agent told me that first the big players will sign, and then you have to wait. I’ve waited more than two months to get here, so I can wait two more."
