Despite several reports of irregularities in its MBBS entrance test for the year 2015-16, Aligarh Muslim University on Monday decided to go ahead and release the result.

In a press release, the AMU said, "The Executive Council of Aligarh Muslim University, after in depth deliberations, has unanimously accepted the report submitted by the Enquiry Committee headed by Hon'ble Mr. Justice Imtiyaz Murtaza, former Judge, Allahabad High Court, which clearly stated that there was no foul play in the conduct of the affairs that happened at the Kozhikode Centre Kerala in the MBBS/BDS Entrance Test 2015-16 held on April 26, 2015. It also held that the procedures followed were in conformity with approved norms."

Earlier in May, the varsity had cancelled the entrance examination for MBBS/BDS held on April 26 and ordered to conduct a fresh entrance examination.

The decision to cancel it had come in the wake of reported selection of a large number candidates from a dubious centre in Kerala.

In the press release, the university said, "Detailed Inquiry Report has highlighted that there was no foul play in the conduct of the said examination and that the bulk of successful candidates had secured exceedingly high percentages in their Senior Secondary Examinations and most of them had also qualified for the KEAM (Kerala Engineering and Medical) examination."

The controversial decision is bound to raise some doubts over AMU and its functioning as it is very rare to go with the "cancelled" entrance exams that came under scanner.
