Welcome rain, unwelcome waterlogging, traffic snarls

North and East municipal corporations reported one complaint each of waterlogging — in Sector 11, Rohini (north) and Madhu Vihar (east).

The civic bodies claimed to have desilted all major drains of the city ahead of the monsoon. “We received complaints at our control room from these two areas. No complaint has been received from other areas,” an official said.

However, several colonies across the city complained of waterlogging. Geeta Colony, Krishna Nagar, Chandu Park Colony, Azad Nagar, Shastri Nagar and Rani Garden were some of the areas affected.

“The road from Pushpa Point to Geeta Colony via Rani Garden had considerable waterlogging. The root cause is the damaged road which hasn’t been repaired since five months,” Vijay Kochhar, president, Geeta Colony RWA, said.
