Five of robbers' gang held, five loot cases solved

In a major breakthrough, the police nabbed five members of a gang involved in five loots involving traders and salesmen in trans-Ganga area of the city. A cache of firearms, cash and vehicles used in burglary and loots were recovered from them.

ALLAHABAD: In a major breakthrough, the police nabbed five members of a gang involved in five loots involving traders and salesmen in trans-Ganga area of the city. A cache of firearms, cash and vehicles used in burglary and loots were recovered from them.
SP (crime) said that following rising complaints of loots in trans-Ganga areas a team was put on job to nab the criminals, who used same modus operandi in all cases.

On Sunday Phulpur CO Krishna Gopal Singh was tipped off about a few men planning at loot at Bhiduara Highway. The team reached the scene but faced resistance from looters. However, they were cornered and nabbed after a chase.
They were identified as Shyamu Pasi, Ram Dular, Raj Bahadur, Hazari Lal and Om Pal Yadav of Tharwai area. The gang leader was on the run.
During subsequent interrogation, the robbers allegedly spilled the beans about their involvement in sensational loot case at Soraon (February 2), Nawabganj (June 19), Tharwai (June 5 & 19) and Baharia (July 2).
The police recovered a pistol and two live cartridges, a country-made pistol and four cartridges and Rs 34,000 cash, five mobiles and three motorcycles.
The gang led by one Munna operated across the district. Members used to conduct a recce of the spot before committing a loot or theft. The police are now trying to nab other members of the gang.
