In a bid to create awareness of high levels of noise on streets in the city owing to indiscriminate use of horns, the Young Indians (Yi) Madurai Chapter initiated ‘Horn Not Ok Please’ campaign at the Vishal De Mall here on Saturday.

As part of the campaign, special stickers were released which were pasted on a few cars by members of the Yi Madurai Chapter, including K. Thiagarajan, Yi Chair, and Rachna Binani, Yi Co- Chair.

Speaking at the launch of the campaign, M. Maripandi, an official with the transport office here, said that loud and indiscriminate honking of horns by young motorcyclists had become an accompaniment to rash driving.

He stressed the need for keeping the noise levels on city roads in check in general and curbing the practice among youth in particular.
