Kiran Bedi to open autism centre

Kiran Bedi, retired IPS officer who was the Chief Ministerial candidate of the Bharatiya Janata Party in the previous Assembly elections held in Delhi, will be inaugurating the first anniversary of the Autism Centre dedicated to her sister Rita Peshawaria, a psychologist, at Mallappally on July 14.

Simmi Santha, a Canada-based expert in behavioural science and therapy, set up the centre at Ponpuzha Towers in Mallappally town a year ago in memory of Dr. Peshawaria who was her beloved teacher.

Dr. Santha said the anniversary celebrations would be held at Nirmal Jyothi Public School auditorium in Mallappally at 9.30 a.m. on July 14.

Roy Abraham Kallivayalil, secretary general of the World Psychiatric Association, will be the guest of honour at the function.
