July 06, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:34 am IST - New Delhi:

Two hundred girls from Jahangirpuri and Lal Bagh (near Adarsh Nagar) have been imparted self-defence training under the aegis of the Parivartan Cell of the Delhi Police (North-West district) as part of its “Say No to Fear” programme.

The participants, ranging from the age of eight to 20 years, were taught various techniques, including punches, knife attack, board breaking, tiles breaking, and coconuts breaking.

According to the police, the participants demonstrated techniques they learnt during the training programme.

Volunteers of World Vision and the participants also organised a nukkad natak on the theme of how relatives or known persons are usually perpetrators of sexual abuse. The play urged all not to tolerate any indecent or inappropriate behaviour from anyone, even a relative.

“They should immediately inform their parents or the police if such behaviour is meted out. The audience gave the play a standing ovation. This was followed by feedback from the participants,” said a senior police officer.
