: A minor girl was allegedly murdered by a youth in North Dinajpur district of West Bengal on Saturday.
The girl was kidnapped by the accused on Saturday when she was returning from school.
He reportedly took her to an isolated jute field and tried to rape her. When the girl resisted, he strangled her to death and fled from the spot. He was arrested in the wee hours of Sunday.
The police, however, could not confirm whether the girl was raped.
“We are waiting for the post-mortem report. A murder case has been registered against the accused,” Superintendent of Police in North Dinajpur Syed Waquar Raza told The Hindu .
