A head-on crash in the foothills southwest of Denver Sunday afternoon closed U.S. Highway 6 in both directions for about an hour.
Five people hurt in the crash were taken to the hospital, Colorado State Patrol Trooper Tim Sutherland said.
The two sport utility vehicles collided around 1:44 p.m. forcing the closure between Golden and Highway 119, Sutherland said. Road crews re-opened the highway around 3:30 p.m. after wreckage was cleared and investigators looked at the scene.
The cause was not immediately clear, he said.
