To give a better look and improve quality, the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) has decided to make some major changes in its question papers for board exams.

Confirming the development, Dr Tajinder Kaur Dhaliwal, chairperson of the board, said that it was the need of the hour to make changes in the question papers.

“Apart from their (question papers) look and paper quality, we are also going to change the pattern of setting questions,” said Dr Dhaliwal.

She said that the decision in this regard was taken after a special five-day-long workshop which was attended by experts from NCERT, education department, academicians and subject experts of PSEB.

She said that according to the views of the experts, the board was contemplating focusing on objective-type questions. “From now on, there will only be limited subjective-type questions. The experts also emphasised on adding ‘clueless multiple-choice questions’ in the question papers,” she said.

She said that all the experts had a common view that there was a need to shed the old pattern and make major changes in the question papers.

For a better look, the board is contemplating the use A4 paper for printing question papers.

“Now, question papers will be prepared in three languages English, Hindi and Punjabi,” she said.
