40-year-old man arrested for stalking, clicking pictures of teen

VADODRA: Gorwa police, on Saturday, arrested a 40-year-old man for harassing a schoolgirl. The accused identified as Rakesh Patel followed the girl from her school and took pictures of her. According to the Gorwa police, Patel took pictures on his mobile phone while following her on his motorbike.
The incident took place at around 12.30 pm when the 16-year-old student was returning from her school.The girl told the police that Patel who spotted her at a shop began clicking her pictures. When she evaded the attempts, Patel followed her and tried clicking her pictures.
Following the advances, the victim rushed to the Gorwa police chowki. The police asked the victim to take the same route to her house where Patel followed her. Patel was arrested by the police when he followed the girl for the second time.
Patel was arrested near Sahyog Garden and his motorbike was immediately seized by the police. Upon interrogation, Patel revealed that he was a resident of Koyali village and was running a tuition class.
Patel has been booked under charges of sexual harassment and also under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.
