INDORE: A 25-member team of SGSITS students have created a formula student vehicle named “Shaurya.” The vehicle, which is a result of six-month-long efforts of students in designing, manufacturing and testing, was unveiled on Saturday. The team comprises students from first year till the final year. Total cost of the designed vehicle is Rs three lakh and its fox suspension costs Rs 1.5 lakh.

The vehicle has been designed for ATV event “Supra” scheduled in Chennai from July 15 to July 19. SGSITS team qualified in the design testing round three months back while competing with 180 college teams from across the country and bagged 15th rank with the vehicle design approval by SAEINDIA. After the same, team started working on manufacturing and had 45 days testing of the vehicle. Two more teams from Madhya Pradesh have qualified for the event.
Describing the features of the vehicle, team captain Pulkit Benada said, “KTM Duke 390cc engine, fox suspension for driver’s safety and hydraulic brakes are the key features of our vehicle”.
“Our vehicle’s fastest speed will be 120kmph with a mileage of 9 kmpl. This was a huge learning experience for us. We also developed managerial skills while working in a group,” said vice-captain Vinay Bajaj.
